Mark Brereton – Born and raised in the ceramic city of Stoke-on-Trent, UK, in the late seventies, is a PhotoGraphic Artist that creates photo-illustrative artworks, with an abstract style. He has a strong passion for dramatic visuals often inspired by sci-fi cinema, pop art, and graphic design. Mark’s artworks are created using a mixed media approach exploring the realms of diorama, light painting, typography, photography, and installation, with the final outcome being photo/graphic prints and original pieces.
Mark started his artistic journey after graduating university in 2003 and worked as a commercial Graphic Artist before combining a conceptual Fine Art approach into his practice. Over the duration of the last ten years his work has started to focus on subjects such as – Food Culture & Industry, Fun with Food, and Food Documentary.
Mark uses a digital camera for his main tool, but he may also use audio recording, video recording, and varied film cameras depending on the project and job. He creates three dimensional illustrations, builds scenes, and sources props to enhance all shoots and final imagery.
Mark is currently working on a new photo book exploring a local food and culture. He’s also developing a small collection of merchandise and products that will compliment his photography and artworks.
Mark finds humour in the everyday and living in an industrial midlands city such as Stoke adds to the flavour, but this doesn’t stop him exploring the wider world. He has exhibited work from California to Korea, Hanley to Burslem, and Mark’s also worked with an eclectic mix of clients and collaborations, some of these include: Olympus Imaging, Sky, Michelin Tyres, British Ceramics Biennial, Gallery 116, University of the Arts London, Saatchi Gallery, Orange / EE, Dudson Ceramics, Staffordshire University, WOW HD, Untitled Art Gallery, Arts Council, and many more.
